Though most artists may strive to land a number one song, topping the charts does not a good track make. Just taken it from acts like Soulja Boy, Elton John and Starship, who made it big with mediocre melodies.

From Justin Bieber's early hits to "The Macarena," here are the 10 worst artists to ever have a number-one song, as told by Reddit.

    “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John

“I like some of his music, but the chorus of this one could curdle milk.”

  • 2

“Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy

“Ahhhh... ‘Crank That’. Horrible song, but with this song, Soulja Boy paved the way for rappers to be discovered on the internet.”

“Disco Duck” by Rick Dees & His Cast of Idiots

“It's in my list of songs to show people who claim music was so much better in the 70s.”

    “Harlem Shake” by Baauer

“’Harlem Shake’, only correct answer. Benefitted from being at the right place in the right time, a.k.a. just when Billboard started including YouTube. I still maintain that only official videos featuring the song should count (audio stream, lyric videos, or music videos posted by the artist's official account).”

“The Macarena” by Los Del Río

“The Macarena’. Sure, you might think it's a catchy tune ... a bit silly perhaps, but a rightful pop 'classic'. Well —— you! Have you forgotten the horror of hearing that —— song over and over and over and over again all —— day long for over a whole —— year?? There was no escaping it! Surely the greatest humanitarian disaster of the '90s... (ok, maybe not.. but it was pretty bad)."

“Ballad of the Green Berets” by Barry Sadler

“’Ballad of the Green Berets’ is now one of the worst things I’ve ever heard."

“Ballad of the Green Berets” by Barry Sadler

  • 7

    “Cheerleader” by Omi

"Cheerleader is the kind of song that is good if you like it, but is annoying as —— if you don't."

    “Cheerleader” by Omi

  • 8

    “Baby” by Justin Bieber

“‘Baby’ - Justin Bieber. And let's not forget how Ludacris lost his street cred by pulling a feat. on this one.”

    “Baby” by Justin Bieber

  • 9

“Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus

“It hit #4 in mainstream and #1 in country, so I'm counting it. It was not only insanely irritating, it was constantly referenced in the media at the time. Stupid, irritating, and inescapable.”

“Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus

“We Built This City” by Starship

"A corporate rock, anti-corporate rock song."
